The Firearm Systems FA BCG is a complete, fully assembled M16-profile bolt carrier group for the AR-15, M4, and M16 platforms. It ships ready to drop into a standard upper receiver, whether you are finishing a new build or replacing a carrier that has reached the end of its service life.

Why the M16 (full-auto) profile matters

An M16-profile carrier retains the full material shelf at the rear of the carrier body that a semi-auto carrier has machined away. That gives it more mass and a longer bearing surface, and it preserves the sear-trip geometry that forced reset triggers depend on. Both effects matter: the extra mass slows the cyclic rate slightly and smooths the impulse, and the full rear profile is what allows a forced reset trigger to time consistently. An M16-profile carrier is strongly recommended on any Disruptor build.

The full-auto profile is legal to own and install in a semi-automatic rifle. On its own it does not change how the rifle fires.

Why black nitride

This carrier uses a salt bath nitride (black nitride) finish inside and out, rather than the traditional phosphate coating found on most mil-spec carriers.

  • Harder surface. Nitriding hardens the surface layer of the steel itself instead of adding a coating on top, so it resists wear over a longer service life.
  • Corrosion resistant. Holds up to moisture and to harsh solvents better than phosphate.
  • Easier to clean. Carbon does not key into the surface the way it does on phosphate, so fouling wipes off with far less scrubbing.
  • Lower friction. A slicker bearing surface means smoother cycling and less wear on the upper receiver rails.

Installation

Remove the takedown pin, separate the upper from the lower, pull the charging handle and old carrier to the rear and out, then insert this carrier the same way. No fitting or gunsmithing is required. If you are installing it as part of a forced reset build, fit the H3 buffer at the same time so the carrier and buffer are matched.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a full-auto BCG to run a forced reset trigger?

It is strongly recommended. A semi-auto carrier lacks the rear material that provides the sear-trip geometry and mass a forced reset trigger relies on for consistent timing. Builds using a semi carrier are far more prone to inconsistent reset.

Is a full-auto profile carrier legal?

Yes. The carrier profile is not a regulated component and it does not make a semi-automatic rifle fire automatically. It is sold and installed in semi-automatic rifles routinely.

Will it work with my existing buffer?

It will function, but pairing an M16 carrier with an H2 or H3 buffer gives the best results on a carbine, particularly with a forced reset trigger. See the buffer weight selection guide.

Does it come with a charging handle?

No. This is the bolt carrier group only, assembled and ready to install.

What maintenance does a nitride carrier need?

The same as any BCG, but less scrubbing. Wipe the carbon from the bolt tail and carrier interior, inspect the gas rings and extractor spring periodically, and lubricate the bearing surfaces before use.
